choc and cherry cookies:
recipe:
8oz butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla
10 oz flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup cadid cherries (or any other dried fruit)
4-6oz chocolate
little hot milk
method:
sift together flour baking powder and salt.cream butter and sugar.beat in egg and vanilla.
blend in the dry ingredients.divide dough into two equal portions.mix finely chopped cherries(or fruit) into one half.mix melted choc into other.
work each dough with hands till pliable.shape each portion of dough into two bars 9×1 1/2 inch.wrap in waxed paper and chill till firm.
cut each bar in half lengthways and brush cut side with hoy milk.press one cherry and one choc half together and wrap in waxed paper.do this till all portions are used.
chill again till firm.
cut into 1/4 inch slices and place well apart on baking trays.bake gas 5 for 8-10 mins.makes around9-11 dozen.
